c) Holiday Experience

Holidays were somewhat a stressful one because there are so much homework to do, and i even have to make a list of them before i forget! Including my holiday cruise in Shanghai, it shortens the homework periods and duration. My father planned a timetable for me to work out my homework within the first thirteen days of the June holiodays so i could enjoy my cruise without much homework pressurizing me.

On May 30th, some of our classmates went to Escape Theme Park, Singapore's one and only theme park, for some entertainment. There were about twenty of us who went there including our form teacher, Mr. Imran. Our entrance fees were paid by our form teacher in forms of a 'treat' that was raised by our class funds. We took a long time partnering each other to get tickets.

Yuvin, Michelle, ZiYi and I were the first to reach Escape Theme Park as we woke up early and my mother fetched them there. It was raining by the time we reached. Luckily Michelle, ZiYi and I had our umbrellas each and we courted Yuvin over. We waited for the next few to arrive; KaiYing, Yin Wei, Jeraldyn, Jetaime, Eleanor, QiJun, Ron, Kelvin, ZiJian, Liang Ming and Mr. Imran to come. Finally after all the discussion and talks, the rain stopped just in time for us to get our foot in and start enjoying. All of us rushed to the haunted house first because it was thrilling and it was the easiest that there was no queue to it. We lined up according to who come first and paired ourselves in fours. Michelle was extremely scared of the haunted house she kept her eyes shut throughtout the whole ride. Yuvin was right in front of them followed by Michelle's most trustworthy and loyal friend, ZiYi, followed by Michelle who kept clutching into ZiYi's shoulders followed by me!

Me and Yuvin were the bravest ones so we helped keep Michelle and ZiYi protected from any 'ghosts'. The whole ride was thrilling and spooky, sometimes the monsters just gave us a shock!

Michelle was utterly almost afraid of every thrilling ride except those small and fun rides. I figured out she doesn't like rides that goes round. We played the viking after that, Michelle almost cried. It was a huge ship that propelled forwards and backwards vibrating excruciatingly that sometimes your tummy felt uncomfortable and sense giddiness. Yuvin and I sat at the extreme corner of the ship because that was the area where u feel higher than everybody else and it is cooler and you feel satisfactory. Michelle sat in the middle when you carely feel anything but she was so scared she almost teared while cuddling intimately with ZiYi.

We played that ride umpteen times because that was one of the rides that Michelle dared to sit and because Michelle did not have much choices there for the rides were far too daring for her, we bid her way by listening to what she has chosen to ride on. Next we persuaded Michelle onto riding the cup ride.

It was a little cup when you can sit in four people while the cup naturally rotates and the ground rotates along too. It was one of the most giddiest ride ever because you get twice the giddiness. Again, Michelle closed her eyes throughout the ride. She dared not get into it again and we joked about that, I wonder what was so scary about that.

Next we went on a ride just next to the cups. It was a seat that you have to lay on and the machine turns you round and round profusely until you feel noxious. I disliked that ride so much because it was partially for little children who enjoys the ride like the feel themselves flying around. These kind of rides usually don't interest me, it was only for entertainment when we were tired. Michelle complained about the kid next to her that kept screaming "I'm flying! I'm flying!"

Then we went for the scariest ride when you go upside down for a few seconds, lean forward and backwards till your brain gets all messed up and can't find the right direction to carefully look at something to ease your going-bonkers-brain that will be knocking you off grounds. Mr. Imran and the rest were persuading us not scream, but we screamed to add in the fun. :D It was thrilling to turn upside-down but our bones on our laps hurt. The seat belt fastened to our laps were pressing against it when we turned whichever ways.

That was the most hurting rides, but we enjoyed it. (:

Then we played the Wet & Wild ride! It was the only wet ride that we sat on. Yuvin forced me to scream when I already had no voice because i had already been screaming for the past one hour. We machine climbed up the tracks and went SPLASH into the water. The person sitting at the back would be wetter than the person sitting in front because the water splashes to the back more than to the front. I was all drenched from top to toe and our clothes were mostly translucent because it was white in colour and the water soaked through it. Yuvin was extremely embarrassed because he clothes material was so thin and we could see everything happening underneath there.

After all the fun and entertainment, all of us waddled off to the nearby hawker centre to eat something as our tummies were starving. We ate KFC when Yuvin couldn't finish her cheese fries and she packaged it back but it turned out disgustingly disfigured and she threw it away. We were all quenched and all energetic to go back playing. But this time we went to the arcade to play.

There were many varieties of games and machinese there ranging from 3D to computer games such as pinball, audition, basketball etc. We spent a total of about $10 topping up our 'Funky Card' and playing many games. We played the basketball so badly the boys were laughing their heads off and we were utterly embarrassed. Our highest score played by all four of us were 38. But one boy, alone, had his highest score of aout 180.

We had a fun but tiring day. I wish we could have such a class gathering again some time.

a) My personal targets for English.

My personal targets for English are to score a B3. This is because i did not do very well for my previous English exam and i scored a B4. I wish to improve little by little so that i could catch up with the work and gradually become a professional in English :D

I hope to improve one grade in my work and my attitude towards achieving my goals. Doing more assessments, reading more books, newspaper articles, speaking frequent English as home could be a source of helping me improve and i look forward to the day when i could speak fluent, appropriate and strong English.

b) Book Review

Author: Judy Blume
Title: Tiger Eyes
Book Review done by: Krystal Kwan Hui Yun (9)

Date: 1st June

Brief Summary on Tiger Eyes:

Tiger Eyes is a very interesting story about a girl named Davey. She lived in New York and she is 15 years old living with her younger brother age 7 and her mother. The murder of her father shot in his chest means Davey's life can never be the same again. Her mother too, gets traumatized by the incident that they can never have their father again. Their family couldn't continue to live in haunts and decided to move to their aunt's house in New Mexico. Their aunt and uncle were giving warm welcomes to them. However, there were many rules made by them such as a must to wear helmets when cycling, time limits to go home, going to school on regular basis etc. Davey could not bear with the many rules and had frequent quarrels and shouts with her uncle, one time, her uncle even slapped her.

One day she met a mysterious young man only known as Wolf and they have been meeting each other frequently at the canol talking. Wolf's father was hospitalized and passed away, which Davey was in charge of taking care of him as a nurse and met coincidentally. She also meets her new best friend Jane, who is a alcoholic but does not know it and her widow mother meets a young man whom Davey disliked and named him as 'The Nerd'. They were so close to each other Davey thought they were getting married, but her mother decides to go home and start a life afresh. Their aunt and uncle reluctantly let them go and Davey left letters to Wolf in the canol, hoping he would come back in time to see them.

My 5 items for the book review:This is the Glowing Rock that Wolf gave Davey before he left to represent her eyes like tiger eyes that shone from brown to orange. Wolf also, did not know Davey's real name and Davey was known to him as Tiger. Wolf sent this Glowing Rock as a parcel on valentine's day.
This is a alcohol drink that Davey's best friend, Jane has been drinking. Jane is a usually shy and timid pretty girl, she doesn't talk that much. She drinks alcohol because she wants to show a brave side of herself and she thinks that that is the only way she could communicate well with people. Drinking alchohol everyday made her an alcoholic and only Davey warned her.

This is a picture of a hospital. This represents the hospital that Wolf's father had passed away in it with joy and with love. Davey and Wolf also met up coincidentally here when Wolf's father presented her the toy bear before he died. Davey went to the clinic a few times too when she vomited in school twice. Davey was working in a hospital too.

These are lizards that Wolf and Davey had seen together in the canol. Before Wolf left, he said 'Los lagartijos Corren' to Davey and Davey did not know what it meant. So she seek her Italian teacher for help and it turned out to be 'When The Lizards Run'. Which means summer. So she came back to the canol to look for Wolf every summer but all she saw was lizards.

This is a picture of a helmet which Davey has been forced to wear whenever she has a chance to go cycling. She thinks that this is a very embarrassing thing to do because people on the streets do not wear helmets except her. To her aunt and uncle, safety always comes first.

Reflection:

I personally think that this book is a very interesting book as it contains many facts and thoughts about how the characters in this book felt and how interesting they made it to be with so many things happening in a day. The way they described the characters were very realistic and it always gives me an emotional feeling. I enjoyed most about the part when Davey meets a mysterious young man whom she doesn not even know his real name. They seemed like a couple to me :D In this book, it gave alot of great and rich volcabulary that sometimes secretly encouraged me to look into the dictionary for them. I learnt alot from this book and how people reacted when they are under certain pressure. There are many things happening in one day. :D

Read it! It's interesting! :DDD
